Design Award for Hermitage Housing
09 July 2008
Hermitage Housing is celebrating its recent success at the
Housing Design Awards 2008.
The Awards, sponsored by leading bodies in the
design sector, point the way forward for high quality housing
design. Hermitage Housing's planned redevelopment of the
former Gosport railway station site is
one of nine winning entries in the Awards' future projects
category.
Plans for the 1840s Grade II listed building -
which has been derelict for almost 40 years - include a mixture of
35 residential units as well as business units and an office for
community use. In partnership with Re-Format Architects of Alton,
the scheme is in keeping with the existing Victorian architecture
whilst restoring and retaining much of the remaining structures of
the former railway buildings and platforms.
