Guinness Midsummer scoop first place in awards
21 October 2008
This month, representatives from Guinness Midsummer took to the
stage at the MK Dons stadium to collect first place in the Milton
Keynes and North Bucks Chamber of Commerce Business
Excellence awards, for their sustained commitment and engagement
with the local community.
Having entered the award for the work that we have carried out
during our first Make a Difference (MAD) day in 2007 and the
ongoing work of our Estate Appraisal Programme and Community
Development Fund, we were delighted but not wholly surprised to
come first, despite facing stiff competition from the centre:mk and
MK Theatre.
Maggie Sherlock, Chief Executive of Guinness Midsummer, who went up
to collect the award with Business Change Manager, Dawn
Irvine , said: "This award is a great testament to the
marvellous work that our staff do in the community on a daily
basis. It's not only the hands-on work that we do through the
estate appraisals and MAD days, but also the empowerment that our
Community Development Fund gives to groups and individuals that
really makes the difference."
The judges' commented that it was 'an excellent application
demonstrating the outstanding service to the community through its
wide ranging community programme."
Just a couple more awards and we'll invest in a trophy
cabinet!
