Eco friendly development gets the green light

Guinness Trust is delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted for an exciting new redevelopment programme in Primrose Hill, London.

The Eco-friendly scheme will see the existing block of bedsits demolished and replaced with 73 flats for both rent and sale. Having worked closely with existing residents on the design of the new homes, they are excited with the news.

Pierre Pujos lives at Guinness Court and said;

“This is a special place with a good atmosphere, but the flats are quite old and costly to heat. It will be very nice to have a modern flat. I’m very pleased it is going ahead – it’s great news for us residents who are lucky enough to live here”

The finished development will comprise two blocks built to Lifetime Homes standards and will include 37 social rented apartments and 36 apartments for sale. Features will include an attractive courtyard, a children’s play area, private gardens, balconies and an underground carpark.

The development will also benefit the environment. The scheme will be built using natural materials and will have solar heated water and a combined heat and power plant to generate electricity. This helps the environment through lower carbon emissions, and will also mean lower fuel bills for residents.

The redevelopment will take place in two phases and will be complete in 2012.
