Sustainability matters

Sustainability! To us this means creating great homes in stable communities that will last into the future.

It's about achieving this with the minimum possible damage to our planet and our natural resource. We think of sustainability as 3 things:

Environmental responsibility

  • Using more environmentally-friendly products in our house building and repairs work
  • Helping our residents conserve energy through insulation and affordable warmth
  • Encouraging staff to use public transport when they’re at work wherever possible

Social responsibility

  • Building homes near schools, doctors’ surgeries and public transport
  • Working with residents to stamp out anti-social behaviour in our neighbourhoods
  • Providing opportunities for elderly and disabled residents to live more independently

Financial responsibility

  • Helping people to be more independent through training and employment opportunities
  • Assisting residents who need financial support to understand their benefit entitlement
  • Ensuring that rents, service charges and lease fees are as affordable as possible

We know that by getting better at being environmentally, socially and financially sustainable, The Guinness Partnership will be more likely to deliver our objectives of great service, great homes and great neighbourhoods. We will also become a great place to work.

Acer Court

Acer Court has many eco-friendly features such as timber frame construction, solar panels, a rain water harvesting system, and is the first Guinness Northern Counties site to have zero surface water drainage.

This development successfully meets Code For Sustainable Homes Level 3 and has been designed to deter crime.
