We’re spending approximately £100 million transforming Loughborough Park by providing 487 new homes for social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership.
Loughborough Park was a development of 390 flats built in 1938. Before the redevelopment it failed to meet the government’s Decent Homes standard, which sets minimum criteria for properties such as heating and insulation requirements, making sure they have adequate space, how modern the kitchens and bathrooms are, and the size and layout of communal areas.
Involving our residents
We have kept residents up-to-date throughout the work through face-to-face meetings, drop-in sessions, letters and newsletters, and we held a meet the neighbours event in May 2016 where residents got to know each other better.
Here’s what some of our customers had to say:
“I’m new to Guinness and moved to Loughborough Park last year. It’s nice, quiet, warm and everyone has their own outdoor space. I have two people living beside me. Everyone is considerate and we’re all getting to know each other so it looks like it’s going to be a nice community. The staff are very helpful and supportive. Every time I’ve asked them for anything they’ve helped me.” – Ola Akintunde
“I’ve been living here since November 2015 and I love it, it’s fantastic. So far I love the surroundings and my flat is big and spacious. I wasn’t expecting it to be anything like this.” – Maria Goncalves
“I’ve been at Loughborough Park for 22 years. We have a ground floor flat with a patio and more space than before. I’ve got six kids so it’s good to have the room. We’re so much better off now, a lot warmer and quieter. Even though we’re close to the railway we don’t get any noise. Because we’ve been here so long everyone knows us but we’ve got different neighbours so we’re building up new relationships and getting to know people as well as getting used to our new surroundings.” – Peter Walsh
The final phase of the estate regeneration will be completed between now and August 2019.
