Development

Broughton development

We build homes for people who cannot afford to buy - or rent - on the open market and currently we have over 60,000 homes across England.

Each year, we try to build at least 1,000 new properties, and to help us achieve this we have Development teams working in Bristol, Exeter, Havant, Horley, Milton Keynes, Oldham, Sheffield and Welwyn Garden City. This wide geographic spread allows us to work in roughly 50 local authority areas at any one time.

Take a look at our homes and you’ll see a range of different properties that suit all kinds of household size and lifestyle: from one bedroom flats for single people, to four bedroom homes for larger families. We also build homes that are specially designed for older people and people with physical disabilities.

So, whether you’re after a low cost home for rent, shared ownership, or private sale, it’s worth exploring what we have on offer.

What we build

We offer a variety of housing tenures to suit a range of different incomes and lifestyles. As a general guide:

Social rent

These homes are for rent and usually cost around 50% of the equivalent open market rent levels.

Affordable rent

These rented homes are likely to become more common in the future, following recent government policy changes. They usually cost around 80% of the equivalent open market rent levels. It is also possible that these homes may have a fixed term arrangement, rather than lifetime entitlement.

Shared ownership

These homes offer buyers a chance to purchase part of a home and to rent the remainder. It works out to be more affordable than buying a property on the open market. If you are interested in buying a shared ownership home please contact our sales team at Guinness Homes on 0844 8002020.

Outright sale

We build a modest number of homes for outright sale through our private development company, Guinness Developments Ltd. If you are interested in buying a new home please contact our sales team at Guinness Homes on 0844 8002020.

Extra Care and supported housing schemes

We build great homes in schemes that are supported by wardens and specially designed to help older people live more independently. These schemes offer a range of community facilities, like community halls and hairdressing salons.

We are constantly working to improve the quality, cost and design of our new homes and we are always looking to work with established partners who champion innovation.
