Transfers
You can apply to transfer to most areas within the
Guinness Partnership if you are a Partnership tenant.
You must meet the following conditions:
- Be a Guinness Partnership tenant
- Have a clear rent account
- Have kept to the terms of your tenancy
agreement
- Allow a tenancy inspection to be carried out on your
current home if required
- Not be on a Starter or Assured Shorthold
tenancy
- If moving to sheltered or supported housing, you need to
be sure that the appropriate level of support has been
arranged
How long are the waiting lists?
Some areas do not have transfer waiting lists at all
because 100% of their properties are allocated through the local
authority. At most 25% of an area's properties are available for
transfer. To find out if an area you are interested in has a
transfer waiting list, check our
listings
by local authority area.
When waiting lists exist, they vary in length according to
the level of demand and the number of properties
available.
Your place on the list might also vary from one area to
another because different local criteria sometimes exist. Possible
criteria include:
- Waiting time
- Points based on need
- Local connections
Next steps
- Make sure the area you are interested in has properties
available for transfer - contact
the local
office.
- Ask for a transfer application form or
download the Guinness Trust form here. If
you want to transfer to an area outside South East England,
please ask the area office for the local form.
- Return the form to your area office - if you meet the
criteria, you will be added to the waiting list.
- You will need to sign a new tenancy agreement before you
can move to another property.
