Hamilton Gardens Fun Day
When neighbours became good friends

22 August 2018

Mancunian Way, a charity that specialises in community engagement in the Greater Manchester area, and The Guinness Partnership hosted a Fun Day for customers at Hamilton Gardens, Cheetham Hill last Friday.

The event provided food and entertainment for both adults and children, including arts and crafts, cake decorating and a bouncy castle. It also offered the opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy the summer weather and get to know their fellow neighbours.

“It was wonderful to see people of all ages get together and celebrate living on the estate. People I have never seen before came along and joined in the celebration. It is what the summer holidays are all about.” – Sie Mashiri, Customer Liaison Officer (Guinness)

It’s important at Guinness that we can help provide our customers with a community – as well as a home – they can be proud of. We support a range of events to help build stronger, diverse communities, including the Great Get Together and the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, for which we provided customers with funding to organise community celebrations.

Do you have an idea for your community?

Helping our customers to build stronger communities is also one of the main goals of our Aspire Awards, which offers customers funding for projects and activities that benefit the local community. Previously we’ve helped bring customers together by creating iconic murals, supporting youth clubs and providing equipment for budding music stars.

To find out more about how you can apply for an Aspire Award and help make a difference within your community, visit our Aspire Awards page and submit your application by September 5.

More on Mancunian Way

Mancunian Way was set up after the Manchester riots in the summer of 2011, to ensure that the ‘next generation of Mancunians didn’t find themselves making the same mistakes as a small minority that went before’. We’ve been working with Mancunian Way for a few years, helping our younger customers feel more connected and safe within their community, as well as providing them with the skills and confidence to make positive informed choices that’ll hold them in good stead for the future.
