We understand that sometimes there are genuine reasons why people have difficulty paying their rent and we are here to listen and help. Paying your rent on time is a condition of your tenancy agreement.
Please contact us as soon as you have problems so that we can work together to find a solution.
If you do not pay on time we will:
- Contact you by phone, letter, text message, email or visit to make sure you are aware of the situation and can take steps to clear the money that is owed.
- Find out why you have missed a payment.
- Offer you advice about benefits or refer you to specialist debt advice agencies.
- Work with you to get the arrears cleared. This will be through an arrangement that takes into account your circumstances and how much you earn. We can arrange for someone to call you, or visit your home.
- If you do not keep this arrangement we may have to take you to court (legal action).
- The court will normally order you to repay the money you owe to us, and we will add the legal costs to the amount you owe.
- If you still owe us money after we have taken you to court we can take back your home (evict you).
