What is Quayside?
Quayside offers a beautiful place to live overlooking the River Dart. With 30 apartments for affordable rent to those with a connection in the area, and a further 30 available through shared ownership, Quayside offers a great opportunity to enjoy life in Totnes, one of our most vibrant towns, surrounded by rolling Devon hills. Quayside’s facilities include landscaped communal gardens, an assisted bathroom, a bistro and a hairdressing salon; both of which are also open to the public.
There is a 24/7 staff presence including a Registered Manager, Concierge and care staff. The Peace of Mind wellbeing service guarantees a dedicated onsite team, who are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support you to live your life the way you want to.
Quayside uses technology that allows residents to view visitors before opening their front door, enables calls to other apartments and connects to onsite staff in the event of an emergency, assuring residents’ security and safety while maintaining their independence.
Watch: We spoke to a few of Quayside’s newest residents to find out how it has transformed their lives and helped them to enjoy more freedom and start new friendships.
What’s great about Quayside?
It has its own modern café, which acts as a social hub for residents to connect with each other as well as with members of the public, who are also welcome. The bistro focuses on fresh, quality food and drink, and the menu offers classic homemade favourites, delicious cakes and much more.
Extra Care
Built and decorated using dementia-friendly design features, Quayside provides a supportive environment for the provision of high quality care. Our ‘Extra Care’ service helps residents to maintain their independence in their homes with the knowledge that there are trained staff available onsite 24 hours a day.
Our trained teams understand that everyone has different support needs. This is why at Quayside, they work with residents who require support to build a care plan that provides the right level of care provision, while still helping to maintain independence.
Watch: We spoke to a member of staff at Quayside who speaks highly of the facilities and how it’s already enabled a customer to get back their independence.
Costs
The rents are set at 80% of the market rent, these are eligible for housing benefit subsidy if criteria are met. There is a weekly service charge for communal utilities and other building related costs. A percentage of this charge may also be eligible for housing benefit subsidy subject to this criteria.
The Wellbeing Service, charged on a weekly basis, provides the 24/7 staff presence. A percentage of this cost may be eligible for housing benefit support.
Paying for your care is simple. You will receive a monthly bill which covers any services received in the previous month.
Local connection
In order to be considered for a property at Quayside, you’ll need to have a local connection to the South Hams District or Devon (in that order). This means you must have been/are a resident in these areas, have a family connection or work in the area.
Please note: Care requirements will be one of the considerations we make when allocating a rented apartment. Home care will be commissioned on an individual basis with either the local authority or the customer paying for their care. If you’d like to request a brochure or enquire about our care package prices, please contact Quayside on 01803 229 942.
