Sana Taskeen

Sana is a Business Administration Apprentice and joined Guinness in January 2021.

Sana TaskeenWe spoke to her about her apprenticeship and what made her decide to pursue this career path with Guinness.

Why did you choose an apprenticeship?

I chose to do an apprenticeship because I love learning new things and challenging myself, and it’s a great alternative to the University route.

Did anyone help to influence/support that decision?

When deciding to do an apprenticeship after leaving college, my parents were very open minded about what I wanted to do.  They fully supported me and were happy with my decisions. They were really proud of me when I got my apprenticeship at such a great organisation.

What has been the highlight of your apprenticeship journey?

There have been so many highlights.  I’ve had great fun while learning and working at Guinness.  But the biggest highlight is definitely the people I work with – they are nice, approachable and always willing to help.  Choosing an apprenticeship was a great choice for me.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

I want to keep learning and developing.  I’m really enthusiastic about my apprenticeship and working at Guinness, so I want to boost my skills even further.  I want to progress into a more senior role at Guinness eventually, taking on more responsibility at a place I love working.

What advice would you give to somebody thinking of going into an apprenticeship?

There are so many opportunities available and different levels and stages of apprenticeships, so there’s likely to be something that will appeal to you if you’re considering it.  Because you are working in a specific area and doing relevant training alongside this, you get hands-on experience and the right qualifications. My apprenticeship is one of the best things I’ve ever done, so if you’re thinking about whether an apprenticeship is right for you, my advice would be do it, you won’t regret it.

In one work describe your apprenticeship journey

I’d say adventurous. It has helped me become more confident and mature and there’s new challenges every day.
