Celebrating inspiring customers
at the Aspire Awards
20 July 2018
Customers, community groups, Guinness staff and our Board Members gathered together in London earlier this week to celebrate the achievements of our 2017/18 Aspire Award winners.
Since 2009 our Aspire Awards have helped over 340 customers. During that time we’ve invested over £400,000 in training, equipment, travel costs and community projects.
Backing our customers’ potential
Our Aspire Awards recipients from this year have completed various courses including creativity coaching and hair and makeup skills for films. Two received funding to start up a fashion business and a cheesecake company.
Customer, Chris Hatwell, became the first winner of the new ‘Your Talent’ category. He received funding for equipment, to help his band, NIRIS, take their live shows to the next level.
Georgina Dalton was the first recipient of the ‘Your Degree’ Aspire Award. She spoke at the event, sharing the news that she’s passed the second year of her Law degree with a First.
“I believe that in the long term, my Aspire Award funding will help more people than just myself. I am very grateful for the opportunity given to me by Guinness to continue studying a subject I am very passionate about.”
Supporting our communities
We were also delighted to approve 11 grants in our community category. This year’s projects included summer programmes for children, community garden projects and music studio sessions for the Copenhagen Youth Project.
