Celebrating National
Apprenticeship Week 2017

06 March 2017

This week is the 10th annual National Apprenticeship Week – a celebration of apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on businesses and the economy. This year’s theme is ‘ladder of opportunity’, and here at Guinness we have several apprentices who have climbed this ladder successfully.

Apprenticeships at Guinness Apprentice electrician, Liam

We currently support and train 48 apprentices at Guinness; they range in age from 16 to 39 and from trade apprentices in Guinness Property to business administration apprentices in our offices. 7 out of 10 of these apprentices go onto full-time employment at Guinness.

Apprenticeships are not only a fantastic gateway to a new career, but they also benefit the business by bringing new skills, dedication and fresh perspectives to our teams.

How we’re celebrating this week

This week, we’ll be sharing stories of our apprentices on our Facebook page and on our Twitter feed @yourguinness. We’ll be talking about how they started, the work they’re doing and where their apprenticeship will take them in their careers. Plus we’ll hear from Guinness colleagues who started as apprentices and forged permanent careers with us.
