Guinness hosts a workshop
with the National Housing Federation

01 February 2018

We hosted an ideas lab workshop that brought people together to share opinions and new ideas about the future of housing.

This workshop was one of a series across the country led by the National Housing Federation as part of their Futures programme. Around 30 participants from Guinness and other housing associations took part in the discussion.

After taking into consideration the major changes recently in the world, ranging from technological advances to an ageing population, there were many fantastic ideas generated. People came up with ways to tackle street homelessness, enhance intergenerational living, improve community development, boost employability and support people in developing their own businesses.

It was the thirteenth workshop run by the National Housing Federation, and we were delighted to hear from them that the quality of this workshop was very high – so a big thanks to all who took part!

New approaches like this one are vital in helping solve today’s housing crisis, so that as a nation our housing of tomorrow is high quality, designed to accommodate the ever changing needs within society, and affordable for all.”- Alistair Smyth, Head of External Affairs

The National Housing Federation will be taking the best ideas into a 16-week long “Greenhouse” later this year. Greenhouse is a concept where ideas are developed into workable solutions that can be trialled and potentially implemented across the housing sector. It is supported by up to £15m of funding that is being made available through investors and social entrepreneurs, to help bring innovation as well as challenge the way things are done at the moment.

The best ideas that come out from this will then be presented in an exhibition in early 2019.
