Guinness chosen as partner in Manchester’s Northern Gateway scheme

22 January 2021

Guinness has been chosen as one of three housing associations to help deliver the first 800 new affordable homes in the Red Bank neighbourhood in Manchester.

Red Bank is a neighbourhood of the Northern Gateway scheme. The scheme is a joint venture between the Far East Consortium (FEC) and Manchester City Council, which will deliver up to 15,000 new homes across north Manchester over the next 15-20 years (20% of which are outlined as affordable housing).

We will be part of an affordable housing delivery panel of three housing associations, along with Trafford Housing Trust/L&Q and Great Places Housing Group, tasked with delivering homes over the next 10 years.

Guinness is delighted to have been selected to partner FEC to progress Red Bank. This is part of our ongoing and long-term commitment to providing homes and building communities in Greater Manchester, (where we already own 12,000 homes) and we are looking forward to working together over coming years. – Catriona Simons, CEO of The Guinness Partnership

The Northern Gateway scheme is divided into a series of neighbourhoods, with Red Bank being one of the first to be progressed for development and investment. We are extremely proud to have been chosen as a development partner by FEC and look forward to working with them and the other partner organisations over coming months.
