Guinness wins top housing prize
at International Dementia Awards

12 November 2015

We're very pleased to announce that last week we were crowned the winner of the Housing and Dementia Award at the International Dementia Awards 2015.

International Dementia Awards 2015The honour recognises organisations that provide high-quality housing support, allowing people with dementia to live comfortably in their homes for as long as possible.

Andrew Dench, our Head of Strategy, attended the ceremony to collect the award:

“We’re thrilled to be acknowledged for our commitment to improving services for customers with dementia and their families.

“Our research indicates that there are likely to be more than 1,000 older people with dementia living in Guinness homes or receiving care services. We want to help them live well and remain independent for as long as possible and we plan to take practical steps to make that happen. This award is recognition that we’re heading in the right direction.”

The awards ceremony was hosted by Baroness Joan Bakewell as part of the International Dementia Conference in Birmingham.

Earlier this year we published a research report, in collaboration with the Institute of Public Care, setting out the steps we’re taking to become a dementia-friendly organisation.
