Highly Commended at Women into Construction Awards

27 June 2022

Our ongoing advocacy for women in construction and maintenance across the housing sector is a hugely important part of what we do, so we were thrilled to recently be awarded Highly Commended in the ‘Commitment to Inclusion Award’ at the Women into Construction Awards.

The awards showcase and celebrate the achievements of women in the construction sector, as well as the organisations that are leading the way in gender equality.

Jacqui Wordsworth, Business Development Director, Women into Construction, (pictured right, with Helen Dobbs, Senior Regeneration Manager), said:

We were delighted to present The Guinness Partnership with a Highly Commended award for its commitment to inclusion. Guinness was recognised for its continued efforts working with WiC to open up opportunities for their female residents and also for its influence on contractors to address the gender imbalance in their workkforces.

A gender-equal workforce

Women into Construction (WiC) provide bespoke support to women who want to work in the construction industry. They also help contractors to recruit and train women, helping to reduce the skills gap and create a more gender-equal workforce.

Later this year, we’ll be partnership with Hill in Bristol and Henry Construction in London, to welcome 30 more women onto the WiC programmes. Women into Construction is a five-week course that helps with developing a CV, interview skills and placement for on-site and office-based roles within construction.
