We’ve teamed up with a number of organisations to give six people from the Manchester area the opportunity to ‘kickstart’ their careers.
Working with charity Mancunian Way, Keepmoat Homes, Manchester City Council and new homes insurance provider NHBC, we delivered the Kickstart course for people interested in working in construction and maintenance.
A programme of training
The training sessions and workshops included:
Health, safety and environment awareness
Practical skills, delivered at Guinness Property’s training academy
A site visit
Advice from our HR team on putting together a CV
The four-week programme concluded with a presentation held at our Oldham officer for the participants, who were also invited to interview for two apprenticeship vacancies at Guinness Property.
Paul Roberts, Executive Director of Guinness Property, presented the certificates to the candidates, and said: “It’s exciting to see what we can do to create opportunities for people in the local community, working together across Guinness and with external partners.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for our inaugural Kickstart graduates – having a trade is such a great career foundation.
“I hope the current successful candidates are the first of many and we look forward to extending this scheme to support our Women into Maintenance initiative.”
Creating new routes into housing and maintenance
This is just one example of the work we’re doing to create new routes into housing and maintenance. As well as the successful Women into Maintenance programme, Guinness Property is also working to broaden its access-to-work opportunities by building connections with local schools and colleges for its apprentice intake.
