This is part of our ongoing advocacy for women in construction and maintenance across the housing sector, and our wider commitment to develop skills in the construction sector.
Women into Construction aims to encourage women into the sector and focuses not just on the building trades and administration but also on professional roles in health and safety, architecture, law and quantity surveying.
An exciting opportunity
We’re inviting Guinness residents, homeowners and other women from East London to book a place on an Information Session where you can find out more about the on-site and office-based roles available.
There will then be an opportunity to join the programme which includes help with developing a CV, interview skills and a two-week placement for both the on-site and office-based roles. The programme will be delivered virtually by video conferencing and webinars, as well as socially distanced site visits.
A diverse workforce
Catriona Simons, Group Chief Executive of The Guinness Partnership said: “Providing training and employment opportunities for our residents of both genders, and the wider communities we serve, is a real focus for Guinness. One in seven of our trades apprentices are currently women, and I am proud of Guinness’s continued support for women in maintenance and construction. We are committed to building a diverse workforce and a more balanced future for the sector.”
Kath Moore MBE, Managing Director of Women into Construction said:
We are delighted to be working with our new partners to encourage more women to take up training and work experience. We hope that the knowledge they gain will allow them to go on to have successful careers in the construction industry.
Joe Bonner, Director at Henry Construction said: “Our strength is our staff who have the knowledge, ability to problem solve, and experience to deliver large scale projects. It is our duty to pass this knowledge onto women who are willing to learn and progress in their chosen career.”
