Starting construction on site in Salford

21 July 2022

We’re so pleased to announce that construction work has started on 63 homes at the Kiwi Street site in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Earlier this week we held an event marking the start of construction work at Kiwi Street – on the site of the former Cherry Tree Court building, demolition of which was completed in January 2022.

Senior members of Guinness and contractors Caddick Construction were joined by Paul Dennett, the City Mayor of Salford and Councillor Tracy Kelly, the Deputy City Mayor of Salford, along with other partners to officially mark this important milestone.

Much needed social housing

Working with Caddick, Kiwi Street will see an eight-story, 63 apartment development on the 0.8 acre site. The scheme will be all social housing and will consist of 47 one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom energy-efficient homes, with car and cycle parking.

Paul Dennett, the City Mayor of Salford said: “It’s great to see that The Guinness Partnership are working with Homes England and their local developer partner Caddick Construction to deliver 63 homes for social rent on Kiwi Street in Salford.

“Currently the UK faces a housing and homelessness crisis, it is therefore critical that Housing Associations maximise the delivery of social rents or rents capped at the local housing allowance, supported by investment from Homes England.

I’m really looking forward to the development being completed and seeing Salford’s residents enjoying their new homes in our great city.

Our commitment to development

This is a really important milestone in the regeneration of the former Cherry Tree Court site in Salford and we’re looking forward to bringing much needed high-quality homes for social rent to the area, reinforcing our commitment to development in Greater Manchester.

The Kiwi Street development is set to complete in early 2024.
