Having managers that believe in me has given me a real confidence boost.

I’m an apprentice maintenance surveyor at The Guinness Partnership. When I was looking for apprenticeships I was offered a few, but I chose Guinness because I knew the career opportunities here would be vast. I wasn’t sure exactly where I wanted to go when I joined, but I’ve been able to get involved in lots of different projects and develop my skills more widely. I’ve worked on everything from improving homes with new bathrooms and kitchens to landscaping and I’m currently looking after a decoration project.

Conversations with my managers have made me realise that there are so many places that I can go in my career. Knowing that they believe in me is a great confidence boost. I’m currently studying for my BTEC Level 3 in Construction and the Built Environment. On top of this, I’ve had a lot of internal training through Guinness. I’m always learning and picking up new things here and I’m hoping to go to university and then work my way up the ladder and become a consultant.

I’d recommend Guinness to anyone. It’s a sociable, vibrant place to work with great support and progression opportunities. The organisation clearly has a real interest in building people’s careers. Everyone has been welcoming too – not just in my team but in other departments. We often go for lunch together and there’s always a lot of laughter and positivity in the office.
