Purpose and lawful basis

We have a duty to ensure that you and your neighbours can live in safety and ensure that you are free from fire related risks. These safety checks and visits are carried out in conjunction with your local Fire and Rescue Service.

We need to share your information in order to carry out these visits. We therefore rely on sharing your personal data under Article 6 (1) (e) of Data Protection Regulations as processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest.

Sometimes it may be necessary to share special category information such as information regarding your health. We will do this under our obligations within Article 9 (2) (b) in connection with Social Protection to ensure households and families are free from the risk of fire in accordance with the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004.

What we need?

In order for the visits to be carried out we will share the following detials with the Fire and Rescue Services:

  • your name
  • contact details
  • date of birth
  • household details
  • and any identified fire risks raised by your Customer Liaison Officer.

If relevant to making the visit more useful, we will share information relating to your physical or mental health.

We will need to receive information from the Fire and Rescue services on any identified preventative actions.

Why we need to use it?

The information is needed to enable the Fire and Rescue Services to visit your home and assess any risks.

Information, if relevant, will be shared with us in order to ensure the safety of residents and so appropriate preventative action can be carried out.

How long we keep it?

We will keep this information for the length of your tenancy with us plus a further 6 years.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data held in your application file by us. (Access)

You also have the right to have inaccurate data corrected and incomplete data completed. (Rectification)

You have the right to request information to be deleted (Erasure)

You have the right to request us to pause the use of your data only if you have contested the accuracy whilst we assess your right to object (Restriction)

You have the right to object to the processing that is for a task carried out in the public interest. (Object)
