Rental Exchange Scheme

Purpose and lawful basis

We want to be able to help you strengthen your credit history to enable you to potentially have access to better deals for a range of good or services that ordinarily you may not be able to take advantage of.

Our lawful basis for processing your contact and financial details is that it is as it is in our and your Legitimate interests under Article 6 (1) (f) of UK GDPR.

What do we need?

If you want to be included in The Rental Exchange scheme, you do not need to do anything – you will be automatically included.

The information we share with Experian will include:

  • Your name, address, and date of birth
  • The start and end date of any tenancies you have or have previously had with us
  • The amount of rent you are due to pay
  • The amount of rent you have paid
  • The amount of any rent arrears on your account
  • The amount of Housing Benefit or Universal Credit you receive (where applicable)

We understand that in some circumstances there may be current rent arrears on your account and these could affect your credit history.  Where this is the case, we will work with you to address it. Paying your rent on time could help you improve your credit rating.

Why we need to use it?

We will use your information to strengthen your credit history by having your rent payments reflected in your credit report.

By having a good credit history can help you access a range of goods and services which can sometimes mean you are offered better deals.
